Vegetation analysis

Ninox Robotics' long-range drone services are an ideal solution for industries that benefit from remote surveying and monitoring capabilities. Our drones are a cost-effective alternative to traditional crewed aviation solutions, producing higher quality data while maintaining high area coverage rates. With our advanced technology and specialised expertise, we provide clients with precise and comprehensive data, enabling them to make informed decisions, drive productivity, and increase sustainability.

Vegetation analysis is crucial across a wide range of industries, from applications relating to vegetation health assessment through to monitoring for vegetation encroachment on assets of interest. The examples below highlight our capabilities for general vegetation mapping, environmental monitoring, and carbon capture assessment. EXAMPLE DATA

Vegetation Modelling

We utilise advanced sensors to quantify the natural earth with incredible detail. We can produce orthomosaics, elevation models, point clouds, tree locations, classified canopy models, and more - suitable for a variety of applications.

Our optimised data collection allows us to efficiently cover large areas. Zoom out to see an example of how much data can be produced from a single flight.

Carbon Capture Assessment

There is a growing need for the ability to accurately and efficiently assess carbon captured in vegetation across large areas.

We have developed a workflow to determine vegetation carbon content through the analysis of photogrammetry-generated point clouds, increasing accuracy & repeatability, saving resources and time.

The deliverables include visual aid tools such as a point cloud and an orthomosaic, along with statistics of the canopy size of the area flown. This example shows a small block extracted from a much larger larger dataset (≈0.000X% of the total area).

We provide:

  • Detailed and accurate data for carbon assessment and monitoring

  • Access to remote and challenging-to-reach areas for data collection

  • Improvement of precision and speed of carbon measurement compared to traditional methods

Case Study

GreenCollar: Using Drones for Carbon Farming

3D reconstruction of one of GreenCollar’s properties.

Carbon farming is a crucial strategy for mitigating the impacts of climate change, and drone technology has the potential to play a significant role in this process. GreenCollar, a leading carbon farming company in Australia, sought to improve the efficiency and accuracy of its carbon sequestration measurements. Traditional methods, such as manual surveys and ground-based observations, were time-consuming and often produced inconsistent results, prompting the need for a more accurate solution.

Ninox Robotics provided a solution by implementing the use of long-range drones to monitor carbon farming on GreenCollar properties. Our drones were equipped with advanced sensors and cameras that accurately measured the height of the canopy present on the properties, covering large areas of up to 10 square kilometres per hour. The extensive data gathered through our technology was used to develop targeted strategies for increasing carbon sequestration.

Overall, this case study illustrates the potential of drone technology in carbon farming and its ability to support sustainable land management practices. It is a promising example of how drones can contribute to mitigating the impacts of climate change and the development of carbon offset programs.
